Brittany Phillips has been selected as the next principal for Dixie Magnet Elementary. With more than 16 years of experience in education and dedicated service to Fayette County Public Schools, Phillips has served as assistant principal at Ashland Elementary since 2019. She will begin her new role on July 1.
"Throughout Brittany's tenure, her passion for fostering a nurturing learning environment and her innovative approach to education have been exemplary," said Superintendent Demetrus Liggins. "Her empowering leadership and commitment to lifelong learning make her the ideal candidate to lead and inspire both Dixie students and educators.”
Phillips joined FCPS as a long-term substitute at Clays Mill Elementary, followed by a three-year tenure teaching third grade at Dixie. In 2011, she joined Wellington Elementary, where she taught third grade for four years before transitioning to kindergarten for three years. In 2018, Phillips took on the role of MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) lead, along with serving as an intervention teacher for grades K-5.
“As an educator and school leader, Brittany has been a driving force in advocating for student achievement, supporting teacher development, and creating a nurturing educational environment,” said Chief School Leadership Officer Jennifer Hutchison. “Brittany is a strong leader and will continue to build on our progress and make positive impacts for all students and staff at Dixie.”
Phillips holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in Teacher Leadership from Asbury University, and a Rank I certification, including principal certification, from the University of Kentucky.
